Welcome to Accounting! This semester course will provide you with a basic understanding of the double-entry accounting system commonly used in business today.

You will need to bring the following materials to class each day: notebook paper, pencils, a pen, a straight edge, a folder, and a calculator (optional). Use of the computer will also be important in this class as some assignments will be completed using MS-Word and MS-Excel. We will try to keep the number of classroom rules to a minimum. Be on time, use the bathroom before class, no food or drinks in class, and treat your classmates and instructor with respect.

There is a significant amount of daily work to be completed in this course. Failure to keep pace will make it very difficult to be successful on tests and quizzes. In order to assist you with this, daily work assignments must be completed and handed in before the chapter test is taken. Once the chapter test is given, no credit will be given for daily work on that chapter.

This a transcripted credit class which allows students to receive college credit in addition to high school credit. The students may drop the transcripted credit option if they are not receiving an A or B in this class.

We will use a point grading system with the following limits:

Grading Scale - See Handbook

Your grade will be based on the following:

Scholastic Honesty and Integrity

All students are expected to maintain a high standard of conduct. Any case of academic dishonesty--cheating, plagiarism, collusion--will not be tolerated and will result in no credit being earned for the assignment.

I am glad that you have enrolled in this course, and am looking forward to a productive, educational and fun semester.
